Learning Express Library
The library now has access to Learning Express Library, which includes more than 1,000 resources: Patrons can learn about careers and prepare for occupational licensing exams in allied health, civil service, law enforcement, nursing, teaching, and other top fields. There's academic skill building (reading, writing, and math) for youth and adults, including resources in Spanish. College-bound students can practice for Advanced Placement (AP®), college admissions, college placement, and graduate school exams. Patrons also gain access to test prep for the WorkKeys® Assessments and the GED®, HiSET®, and TASC tests, and much more. The resources include interactive tutorials, practice tests and exercises, and more than 200 downloadable eBooks.

Rosetta Stone
The New Jersey State Library has included Rosetta Stone Library Solutions Plus in the suite of statewide database/e-resources offerings for public libraries. This is an effective, easy-to-use program that allows you to learn a new language on your own time.

Basic ESL improves an individual's listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through a simple to follow, and instructionally proven curriculum. Students learn English quickly and effectively on relevant topics including: family, home, school and many other topics. In each lesson students learn key vocabulary and how to use that vocabulary in conversation.

Search for, check out, and download eBooks and/or audiobooks using your library card on E-Library NJ! The New Brunswick Free Public Library has access to eLibrary NJ through the Libraries of Middlesex Automation Consortium. (You will not find NBFPL listed under libraries on this website; you will instead see LMXAC.)

One Click Digital
Download classic books from OneClickDigital! After a quick one-time account set-up process, New Brunswick library cardholders can access 200 Classic e-audiobook titles and 85 Classic e-Book titles using this new library subscription.

With a library card from any of the Libraries of Middlesex Automation Consortium, you have unlimited simultaneous access to digital magazines that can easily be viewed on most Internet-enabled devices inside or outside of the library. As of June 20, 2016, thousands of movies, television shows, music albums and audiobooks are available for mobile and online access through a new partnership between the Libraries of Middlesex Automation Consortium (LMxAC) and hoopla digital. LMxAC library patrons can download the free hoopla digital mobile app on their Android or IOS device or visit and select hoopla to begin enjoying thousands of titles available to borrow 24/7, for instant streaming or temporary downloading to their smartphones, tablets, computers, and Apple TV.

The New Brunswick Free Public Library offers a variety of databases for research. Library card holders can access a multitude of materials using their card number. Access digital images of the Home News Tribune online. Papers from 2010 forward are available. View the QuickStart Guide for help in using this service, or click here to start. (If using it from a computer outside of the library, you will need a New Brunswick Free Public Library Card.)

New Brunswick Daily Times 1871-1916 and Daily Home News 1887, 1889, 1903-1926
Microfilm of these historical New Brunswick newspapers have been digitized and made available online. (Sunday newspapers are currently absent from the database during the period of 5/1916-12/1926. Please contact the library to use microfilms.) Funding in part has been provided by the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission, Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders, and the New Jersey Historical Commission/Department of State. The project was also made possible with the permission of The Home News Tribune, and the generous support of the New Brunswick Historical Society.
